Ezra Pound speaks

Ezra Pound on America

Ezra Pound on reading

Ezra Pound on vanity

Ezra Pound on war

Most social evils are at root economic.

I would sing the American people,

God send them some civilization.

I would turn from superficial things for a time into quite.

I would draw your minds to learn of life in quite.

Certain things really do matter: Love, and the comfort of friendship.

After we are burnt clear, or even deadened with knowledge;

After we have gone the whole gamut, exhausted our human emotions,

Still is there some thing greater, some power, some recognition,

Some bond beyond the ordinary bonds of passion and sentiment

That rewards us for foregoing blindness.

There is great virtue in strength, even in passive resistance.

God grant us an open mind and the poise and balance to use it.

I sing of the senses developed, I reach towards perceptions scarce heeded.

If you ask me to write world prescriptions I write so that any can read it:

I am that terrible thing the product of American culture

Or rather that product improved by considerable care and attention.

Write it thus: by their gods ye shall know them.

The chief god in hell is convention

got by that sturdy sire stupidity.

Upon pale fear, in some most proper way

Where humans worship a sham

There is hardly room for the devil.

There is more in heaven and Earth than the priest and the scientists think.

0 woe, woe,

People are born and die,

we also shall be dead pretty soon ,

Therefore let us act as if we were dead already.

I have hidden my face where the Oak

spread his leaves over me, and the yoke

of the old ways of men have I cast aside.

Drink all of life and quaffing lustily

Take bitter with the sweet without complaint

And sharers in his drink defy the pain

That makes you fearful to unfurl your souls.

Worthy to reap men's praises

Is he who'd gaze upon Truth's mazes.

God hath put me here

In Earth's goodly sphere

To sing the joy of the day,

A strong glad song,

To my fellows along the way.

See, and the very sense of what we know

Dodges and hides as in a sombre curtain.

Bright threads leap forth, and hide, and leave no pattern.

I am homesick after mine own category,

Oh I know that there are folk about me, friendly

Yet ordinary people touch me not.

Yea, I am homesick

After mine own category that know, and feel

And have some breath for beauty and the arts.

I will sing of the white birds

In the blue waters of heaven,

The clouds that are spray to its sea.

Properly, we should read for power.

Man reading should be man intensely alive.

The book should be a ball of light in one’s hand.

You, who have loved not what I was or will be,

You who but loved me for a thing I could be,

How could I give you what I am or will be?

I am he that paints a rainbow of the sunset.

As a fragile and lovely flower

unfolds its gleaming foliage

on the breast of the fostering Earth,

if the dew and the rain draw it forth;

So doth my tender mind flourish,

if it be fed with the sweet dew of the fostering spirit,

Lacking this, it beginneth straightway to languish,

even as a flower born upon dry earth,

if the dew and the rain tend it not.

I dreamt that I was God Himself

He that is Lord of all the realms of light

Hath unto me from His magnificence

Granted such vision as hath wrought my joy.

Moving my spirit past the last defense

That shields mortal things from mightier sight.

Some quick to arm,

some for adventure,

some from fear of weakness,

some from fear of censure,

some for love of slaughter,

in imagination, learning later ...

love of slaughter;

walked eye-deep in hell

believing in old men's lies.

Ezra Pound, American poet

Ezra Weston Loomis Pound was born in Hailey, Idaho, in 1885 and raised a Quaker. He married Dorothy Shakespear in 1914. In 1924, he moved to Italy and became involved in fascist politics. When the Americans captured Italy Ezra Pound spent twenty-five days in an open cage during which he suffered a mental breakdown. Upon his repatriation to the America in 1945, Ezra Pound was charged with treason for broadcasting fascist propaganda by radio to America during World War II.

In 1946, Ezra Pound was acquitted of treason, but declared insane and committed to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. After continuous appeals from writers, including Robert Frost, Ezra Pound won his release from the hospital in 1958. Ezra Pound returned to Italy and settled in Venice, where he died, a semi-recluse, in 1972.

As critic, editor and promoter, Ezra Pound helped the careers of T.S. Eliot, James Joyce, Robert Frost, Ernest Hemingway, and D. H. Lawrence.

Gnosis, an esoteric form of knowledge that made possible the direct awareness of the Divine, was one of Ezra Pound's major interests.

This website defines a new perspective with which to engage reality to which its author adheres. The author feels that the falsification of reality outside personal experience has created a populace unable to discern propaganda from reality and that this has been done purposefully by an international corporate cartel through their agents who wish to foist a corrupt version of reality on the human race. Religious intolerance occurs when any group refuses to tolerate religious practices, religious beliefs or persons due to their religious ideology. This web site marks the founding of a system of philosophy named The Truth of the Way of Life - a rational gnostic mystery religion based on reason which requires no leap of faith, accepts no tithes, has no supreme leader, no church buildings and in which each and every individual is encouraged to develop a personal relation with the Creator and Sustainer through the pursuit of the knowledge of reality in the hope of curing the spiritual corruption that has enveloped the human spirit. The tenets of The Truth of the Way of Life are spelled out in detail on this web site by the author. Violent acts against individuals due to their religious beliefs in America is considered a “hate crime."

This web site in no way condones violence. To the contrary the intent here is to reduce the violence that is already occurring due to the international corporate cartels desire to control the human race. The international corporate cartel already controls the world central banking system, mass media worldwide, the global industrial military entertainment complex and is responsible for the collapse of morals, the elevation of self-centered behavior and the destruction of global ecosystems. Civilization is based on cooperation. Cooperation does not occur at the point of a gun.

American social mores and values have declined precipitously over the last century as the corrupt international cartel has garnered more and more power. This power rests in the ability to deceive the populace in general through mass media by pressing emotional buttons which have been preprogrammed into the population through prior mass media psychological operations. The results have been the destruction of the family and the destruction of social structures that do not adhere to the corrupt international elites vision of a perfect world. Through distraction and coercion the direction of thought of the bulk of the population has been directed toward solutions proposed by the corrupt international elite that further consolidates their power and which further their purposes.
