I feel that the client is best served by taking a holistic approach to the design problem in hand. Facets that must be considered in the design include but are not limited to the fulfillment of requirements of use, possible future enhancements or upgrades, the continuing maintenance of the finished product, initial cost versus value now while keeping in mind the future and changing needs of the client as well as the possibility of a future sale. Although the client must be involved in the design process the client can enjoy greater monetary benefits by being involved in and undertaking tasks in the design development and design implementation of the project.
