| Luxurious is the proper term for this bathroom. The old
bathroom was entirely gutted. Bathroom fixtures had to be moved so all the
plumbing was redone. All new DWV was run from through roof to attachment
downline to existing. A hot water on demand pump was installed on a new copper
loop attached at a junction at the hot water heater. Due to the rigorous demand
for water at the shower 3/4" pipe was run directly to the shower. Due to an
increase in electrical demand - bubbler pump, hot water on demand, halogen
light array and radiant electrical floor heating - a sub panel was installed.
in an adjoining bedroom. Glass block encloses the shower,
allows light to penetrate from the exterior and divides the tub area from the
toilet. All surfaces likely to become wet were tiled with imported Italian
porcelain tile - the floor with 12" tile and the walls with 6" tile. The tile
was set on cement backer board over asphalt impregnated paper. The fact that
the tile was 6" and the tub, shower stalls and shower seat were rounded had to
be given special attention. All the plumbing fixtures are cut & polished
leaded crystal balls set in brushed gold fixtures. The brushed gold plated tub
fountain fill acts as a centerpiece. The water supply to the shower is
controlled by a mixing valve that mixes water to a specified temperature. After
being mixed 2 other controls control flow of water to the 2 sets of shower
heads. One set is a standard overhead shower fixture and the other set is a set
of body sprays. Hot water on demand allows with the press a button immediate
hot water. The radiant heat in the floor is controlled by a programable timer.
The halogen light fixture array is controlled by 3 separate switches - 1
controls 4 lights over the shower, 1 controls 4 lights over the sink, 1
controls 3 lights over the tub. The tub is an extra deep bubbler tub and as
well as the fountain fill there is also a hand held spray. The toilet is a
single piece. Tub, sink and lavatory match in color with toilet and sink
porcelain and tub acrylic. A brushed gold plated towel ring, toilet paper
holder, soap holder and leaded crystal cabinet knobs finish the bathroom. |
