Transcendental
unity of apperception is a mental activity.
Transcendental activity means
two things;
- activity in
question is not empirically
observable; we cannot
perceive the mind at
work through the senses.
- activity is necessary for an orderly
experience of
reality.
The ability to integrate my experience creates a world of
reality, accomplished by the
mind through apperception.
It is difficult to observe
the shape of
things within them.
Individuals coming to a
sense of themselves from
the center of the zeitgeist,
must develop intellectually
rigorous intuition to peel
apart the symbolic structures to prevent
slipping under their hegemonic
control.
Expansive
apperception develops with dedicated study.
We
have no sensory experience of time.
Yet we take it for granted that
we experience time in the same sense that we experience colors and sounds.
Careful examination of our experience convinces us, however, that we do
not experience time.
None of
our multiple senses gives us any impression of the pervasive but elusive
passage of time.
What is
the source of knowledge of
time and other formal elements that give experiences organized structure?
Creative activity of the mind builds this structure.
The mind -
receiving smell, color,
sound, taste, texture
from the senses - combines raw data
into coherent structures organizing them in a single unified whole.
The mind organizes sense
data to construct a worldview.
This activity is one of synthesis.
The mind combines information from the senses, unified through
synthesization, to produce the 'unity' of objects we experience as our reality
of an orderly whole world.
Freedom is independence
of the compulsory will of another, and in so far as it tends to exist with
the freedom of all according to a
universal law, it is
the one sole original
inborn right belonging to every human.
Emotion without foundational
understanding is empty, and intuition without conceptual
understanding is blind.
Senses provide only the
appearances of
objective reality.
True knowledge of
the structure of
reality is veiled.
